I don’t very often (never) push my own work and I really need to start. After all if I don’t have confidence in my own work then why should I expect someone else to. Last year I was involved in the annual Lancaster University masters anthology program. This intiative gives students of the Creative Writing Masters Degree the chance to get their work published in a professional capacity. The process of submission, acceptance, editing and publication is the same as any author would go through with a publisher. The only thing side-stepped is the need of an agent.
My short story features in the 2025 anthology titled ‘Thresholds’ the copy I have was quickly withdrawn after it was observed that the title was mis-spelled. Not a great advertisement for a degree that centres itself upon the English language. thankfully they quickly rectified that error and the corrected version is now availbale on Amazon for £4.99 for the paperback. If you search eBay you will find it for £7.99. whichever platform you choose you won’t be disppointed by the talent of the writers on show here. It is an eclectic bunch of well written stories using a breadth of imagination. Checkout ‘Seed’ by lara Hurley; a wonderfully rich Scottish folk tale. Or if you prefer epistolary then ‘Darken The Control Room’ by Charles Abbott will be right up your street.
Whatever your taste, ‘Thresholds’ has something for everyone, and you’ll be supporting up and coming authors.
Oh, and just in case you do fancy having a read, my story is on page 111, ‘Recipe for Love’. Enjoy.
