A UFO
Look to the sky
Our mouths agape,‘Oh’
But we’ll never know why
Governments scramble, the public in mass panic
The army hold guns aloft, conspiracy theories are manic.
Are they visitors from another world? or has the hoax become the mould?
They’re here to save humanity, and save us from the madness. To comprehend the gravity, we must repair the
sickness. The year is twenty twenty, and we’ve ground to a halt. They can’t help us any, It’s nobody’s fault. We
must learn to love each other, only then can we stand brother to brother.
Look to the sky, a UFO. Our mouths agape,
‘Oh’. But we’ll never know why.
I wrote this concrete poem in 2020 as a comment on the pandemic. It’s the first and only concrete poem I have attempted. I may have another go one day.
Concrete poems are a unique form of poetry in that the shape of the poem is just as important, if not more so, than the poem itself. I think this is a fun and creative way to express words, ideas, and emoition.
Hopefully the formatting remains intact on your device. If not the poem is in the shape of a UFO.
